Goodbye babes. Forever.

I plan to press an early and very small quantity of The Prophecy for late December.
All songs from Prophet and White Trees + 2 New Songs.

I present to you a new mixtape. Pop Music That Changed My Life Pt. I.
Growing up, me and my sister always listened to the pop music that my parents loved, and of course the pop music of the day…
Little did I know that at 20 years old, I would have given up my life to go to a university in hopes of graduating and eventually writing for a pop music label.
Essentially, pop music is my life.
These are pop songs of my generation. Some of these songs are major top 40 singles you have probably heard, and some are songs from albums that were never actually cut as singles. Hopefully if you have not heard some of these songs, you will love them as much as I do. When I get depressed and realize that I am not going to be making any money in the near future, these are the songs that remind me why I write pop music -Why I listen to pop music - Why I love pop music.
These are songs that in my opinion were written with perfect pop songwriting craft. From ABBA to S Club 7… pop music does something to us… It’s undeniable.
These are all songs that have taught me a lot about pop songwriting and helped me to develop my own songwriting craft and become a stronger pop writer.
1. You’re My Number One - S Club 7
2. Soul Sound - Sugababes
3. Lovesong - Amiel
4. Under Attack - ABBA
5. Heartbeat - Annie (PS guys, this is one sick tune.)
6. Toxic - Britney Spears
7. Biology - Girls Aloud (I love the structure of the song. Really clever.)
8. Take My Time - Junior Senior (Ft. the B-52’s Ladies)
9. Can’t Get You Out of My Head - Kylie Minogue
10. Off and On - Calvin Harris & Roisin Murphy
11. Fascination - Alphabeat
12. Nothing’s As Good As You - Sugababes
13. I Like It Rough - Lady Gaga
14. The Road to Mandalay - Robbie Williams

Quick note : If you don’t like profanity, this mixtape does employ the use of a couple expletives. (Track 3 only… I think!?)

What started out as a simple assignment (yet not so simple assignment) for a songwriting class here at Berklee is becoming my new side project to my upcoming show/album The Prophecy.
It’s called “Good Goodbye”, and it is a raunchy pop tune which I am currently recording the backing track for. I have a couple of female vocalists from the class who will be lending their vocals for the recording.
It is the first of my “girlband” songs I will actually be recording. Over the course of creating the demo for the song, I will post bits and pieces of the creation process. You can look forward to a sneak peak at the backing track, I’ll try to take some videos of the girls recording the vocals, and ultimately I’ll post the final demo up on the site when it is done.
Your first sneak peak at the song is the first four lines of the lead sheet/lyrics up above. It may be cheesy and ridiculous, but wait until you hear the rest. You can’t judge a sleazy pop tun by it’s first four lines! :)
I really want this track to sound like a powerful female dance-pop romp that reflects and respects the likes of songs such as Kaci Battaglia’s “Crazy Possessive” and Britney’s “Womanizer”. I want the song to sound sleazy but silly. I want it to be serious but light hearted. I don’t want it to scream nasty, I just want it to be kind of sexy and fun. I’ll tell you now that there is a little panting during the chorus!
Stay tuned to see how it all plays out!

Is is being said that two new digital Gaga singles will be released this November before her upcoming The Fame Monster is released on the 23rd.
The second single will be announced sometime next week.
Also, last Friday Gaga announced that her video for Bad Romance would premiere on her site this upcoming week. Today is what seems to be the last day of the “upcoming week”, so maybe we can expect the video at some point today!

The Galaxies EP is now back online.
It features 5 songs from White Trees + a really cool digital album booklet complete with photos by Mandy Mandelstein and lyrics. It is up just in time for the release of the Prophet EP tomorrow. If you have not heard any of the music from White Trees, I would download the Galaxies EP as a preface to the new music that will be released on the Prophet EP tomorrow!
You can download the EP for FREE by clicking here.

This is it. No more changes. This is the tracklisting of the Prophet EP which will be released this Friday, November 6th at 6PM.
Stop by and download it! It’s a moody but very fun EP!
Allow us to take a moment to listen a quick highlight from Robbie William’s Reality Killed The Video Star due out next Monday. (Nov. 9)
The song is called Difficult for Weirdos and it’s a full on disco-dance-romp complete with a glassy house beat, a fantastic set of string patches, and bit of xylophone to top it off.
The song starts out with some wooshy ‘coming at you’ lightly oscillated synth lines and instantly moves into a soupy house sounding tune with heavy synths all around. The verse is very typically Robbie, which means it is fantasic… but the chorus/hook bit is what really does the track…
It’s like dancing with Lady Gaga on the top of a speeding vehicle without being dangerous at all.
The first chorus cuts out and enters a second verse with a bit less synth and some nice pizzicato strings with some fantastically fun xylophone bits starting in the fifth bar… continue the verse… into the second chorus…
Funky post-chorus/pre-bridge bit with lots of handclaps and Robbie faintly shouting “Weirdos”… into a orhcestral stringy/brassy/harp infused bridge…
Into a third verse… funky house beat doesn’t stop…
Beat cuts out for one chorus… comes back in… and repeat’s a few times.
Epic song. Hopefully a single. Standing ovation all around.
